A practical introduction to lino printing led by artist and printmaker Catherine Greenwood.
Saturday 21 November 2026 10.00am–1.00pm in the Plaw Hatch meeting space.
You will develop a simple image based on the seasonal plants, landscape and wildlife of Plaw Hatch Farm.
Learn how to transfer the image onto lino, carve a small printing block and produce prints onto recycled paper.
The workshop will introduce the use of handmade inks, experimenting with colour and texture
You will make a small edition of prints to create handmade cards and print some cards to take home.
The course will include
Developing a simple design from the local landscape
Introduction to lino-cutting techniques
Safe use of lino-cutting tools
Carving a small lino block
Preparing and applying ink
Printing onto recycled paper and pre cut cards
Experimenting on a gel plate to add texture and colour, try over printing and collage.
The workshop is suitable for beginners and no previous printmaking experience is required. Catherine Greenwood is a Sussex-based artist and printmaker working primarily in etching, monotype, lithography and relief printmaking. Her work is informed by landscape, ecology and direct observation. She regularly teaches printmaking workshops in London, Sussex and at independent print studios in UK.

When you arrive at Plaw Hatch Farm turn left and follow the signs for Workshop Parking.
Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start so we can make the best use of the time available.
There will be signs guiding you to the meeting space.
All materials are provided along with tea and biscuits.
